I've invited 50 people over to the house for a retirement party. It is a real drinking crowd except for zippiboy and me. We are doing beer, wine and hard liquor kind of thing. We wanted to do no fuss kind of finger food.. I have the sweets covered, rum cake, pralines, chocholate covered strawberrys; chocolate raspberry truffles. I have five kinds of salsa and a caso, three kinds of cheese and crackers, 4 kinds of dips and nuts. So I'm kind stuck on the seafood, meat and veggies. Got any Ideas? I'm trying not to have to use the oven because you can't depend on the weather in Houston in Novemberand it might be hot.

The other thing is that I only have seats for 22 people; I don't think that everyone will be there at the same time and the older people will go home by 10PM and guys always seem to stand around near the booze. Or do you think I need to borrow some chairs? I have never had a party in this house so I have no idea how it will go.

I have a 15 foot breakfast bar and 32 foot of counter space not counting the stove top and sink that I was going to use for the most part. What do you think?

How about a shrimp/crab claw platter that you order with seafood dip in the middle, a honey baked ham WITH THE GLAZE, and a veggie tray.

Can you borrow or rent some folding chairs that you can use as needed?

You know that honey bake ham doesn't have glaze at the zippi house.

...because Zippi won't put the ham in the trunk of the car for the ride home from the Honeybaked Ham store!! :yep:

I think as long as you have enough chairs for the older ones, and mostly ladies at that, everyone else will stand and mingle. Everything should be easy to eat standing up unless you decide on peel and eat shrimp.

Do you have a Nesco? You could fill it up with meatballs and provide toothpicks to pick them up. How about chicken wings? They might be a bit too messy though...Fruit kabobs work well. Maybe small bowls of chili.

Great ideas girls. Thanks for the help. I forgot all about meatballs. Ikea sells the small swedish meatballs and shirmp and crab meat that sounds good too. The under 30 crowd wants jello shots. I have 4 freinds that are over 80 coming. I hope they don't get into the jello without knowing what is in .
It should be a hell of a night.
