This is growing on the side of the house. We didn't plant it, and I don't think it was there last year, but dh used roundup on that side of the house last year, so he could have killed it last year:

Can you tell what it is? It's a pitcher plant! AKA a carnivorous plant. It's sooo cool!!!!!

Here's a few more pictures up close of the pitchers where the bugs get caught and eaten.

I also took Marzi out back last night and way down by our burn pile we had little pinkish flowers. Well, I looked them up and they're wild geraniums (they're also called crane's bill), so I dug some up and put them in my garden:

There were also a few trillium, but I couldn't take a pic this morning because it started to rain. They look like this: http://www.silkpursefarm.on.ca/images/2002/trillium.jpg

it's not a pitcher plant! It's a Jack-in-the-Pulpit! You must be from another part of the country than me! :yep:
And I've got wild geraniums blooming all over the place, too! They will spread! and they grow in shade! WHOPEE!

I've never heard of a pitcher plant but I have heard of Jack in the pulpit... didn't know it grew in Michigan.
