Ok, Dope with a question

Can someone provide with some very basic info as to how to create an avatar image and also how to use pictures/images in my signature line? :shock:

Ok.. :) To find a picture you'd like as an avatar, you can go to google and put in search words that might be something you'd like. For example...animated heart or heart clipart. When you find a picture you like, rightclick and save it to your computer. If you have an account at photobucket or a couple of other sites that allow direct linking, you can get the url off there. If you don't have a way to host it, feel free to send it to me and I'll do it for you.

To make it show up as your avatar...
Click profile (at the top of the page in the bar that runs above the calendar)

Then when you're in that area... choose profile again (but not the one at the very top of the page... the one that's tabbed).

Now, choose avatar. In the blank area where it says enter URL you enter the code where your avatar is located at. For example, if it was at an aol account... you'd enter http://www.aolmembers.com/blah blah.

Signatures...

To find this area in your profile, it's profile at the top of the page, profile in the tabs and then signature.

This is basically the same concept as the top part, but instead of inputting a url, you'll enter bbcode. Bbcode is letters like ]url[ with the brackets in the reverse position. Anytime you enter bbcode, you have to put the same letters as you started with, such as for the url... with a slash mark in front of them like this ]/url[ to end what you're trying to say.

Some of the codes are ]b[ ]/b[ for bold, u for underlined, i for italics... things like that. You can open up a new post and play with the buttons to find the bb codes for all different things.

Hosting a photo or something in that line, is the same way as the url code I showed you except you use the letters img. What you do is type the ]img[then enter the link to the photo here]/img[. Make sure there are no spaces whatsoever in the area between the urls and the hyperlink.


This sounds like a bunch of gibberish, but after doing it the first time or two, it'll get easier. Just remember to use bbcode when placing a signature and not for the avatar. And don't hesitate to email me. :)
