Hardwood floors???

I wanting to take the carpet out and put in hardwod floors. I'm thinking about brazelian mesquite. ANy ideas or things not to do?

I love hardwood floors but I have area carpets to give the house a warm feeling.

I doing the livingroom and dining room it is 35 feet by 22 feet . The foyer is tile and so is the kitchen. I'm also thinking about doing my bedroom.

We have hardwoods downstairs, and we are about to put hardwoods in our upstairs hallway and bedrooms. I think it will be a big job. :thud:

Oh I was going to hire someone to do it. At first I was thinking about bamboo then I read some bad things then I read some good things so I got confused. I think there just isn't enough history about this kind of flooring in Texas. We have to glue down because it is going to on a concret slab. The more I read the more confused I get. I 'm also thinking about teak too.

Teak? Isn't that pretty expensive? Is it that hard? I would not live long enought to make it worth my while.

But I do want to try to get that new teck(?) artificial wood decking. Then there is little or no matinence!

the labor is so much that the price of the wood isn't really a factor.

I love the look of our hardwood floors when theya re polished. It looks rich and clean.

We put it my daughters bedroom because she has asthma and allergies....my dh did it himself. It's the square tiles that look like wood....it's very nice. We would like to put hardwood in the rest of the house some day.
