'Fear Factor' gets really gross: 2 hours of bugs and reality rejects
Feb. 28, 2005 12:00 AM
Reality TV eats its own young tonight when former contestants of The Apprentice, The Bachelorette, Survivor, American Idol and The Amazing Race belly up to Fear Factor's innards 'n' bugs bar for one last (one hopes) flirtation with fame.
The two-hour, very special episode features Apprentice villain Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth; Bachelorette groom Ryan Sutter; AI flameout Nikki McKibbin; Survivor survivors Ethan Zohn and Jenna Morasca; and Race winner Reichen Lehmkuhl.
But what can faze folks who've already eaten bugs, endured Simon Cowell and interminable rose ceremonies, suffered the excruciating pain that ensues when a few ounces of plaster falls on one's head?
Here are a few challenges we'd like to see tonight:
• Omarosa eats . . . her own words: Fear Factor host Joe Rogan makes Manigault-Stallworth screen her Apprentice footage and admit that she was a big, fat liar who faked the seriousness of her head injury and botched the final challenge.
• Zohn and Morasca are dropped . . . from the cast list for Survivor: All-Stars All-Stars.
• McKibbin suffers . . . watching William Hung achieve recording success. That a moderately talented singer is eating bugs to get attention while Hung has turned his 15 minutes as American Idol punch line into record contracts and a Hong Kong film role could prove more nauseating than even the strongest stomach can bear.
Of course, the scariest part of the show for these folks could be when it ends and they're forced to live once again untelevised and unwatched.
