Have you ever wondered what happens to your home once you move out? That great deck you used to hang out on as a kid? The deep, rich blue paint job that took a week's worth of your vacation to finish? The detailed stenciling in the nursery you and your spouse fought over? That expensive flooring you put in to increase the value of the house? When new homeowners move in to your old home, they could love it all or rip it all out without much thought! What would you say if you could actually see what they did to undo the blood, sweat and tears invested in your home?

Moving Up is a new 15-part series hosted by noted and charismatic TLC personality Doug Wilson and premieres on Saturday, January 29, 2005 at 8 PM (ET/PT), with repeats Wednesdays at 8 PM. In Moving Up, viewers follow a chain of new homeowners who move into one another's homes and begin the design and renovation process that occurs during the first six months of adjusting to their new digs. The new homeowners — young and old, families, couples, and other roommate combinations — have plenty to say about their new environs (and their old!), many decisions to make, and numerous design choices and renovations to implement. Taste is tested in Moving Up, and host Doug Wilson is there to invoke fond memories, humorous observations and cantankerous commentary …

 Has anyone seen this? Even DH go hooked.

I went back to my childhood home a few years ago. It was up for sale again, and they were having an open house.

Sheesh... that WAS NOT the place I grew up in. I remember my house was HUDGE! This one was small; half the size of my house now. And all the french provential stuff mom had in the house had turned to COUNTRY! And the tiny trees me & my brothers had planted were replaced by big old maples. The only thing I recognized was the floor plan.

Nope.. you can never go back home! :yep:

Our first "home" was a trailer and we drove by it this summer to see how it was looking and it was gone. In it's place was an even older trailer that looked horrible. :donno:

Our second home, which was a real home has gone through some changes too, all of the apple trees we planted for special occasions like births, etc. were all chopped down. :cryhard: They also took all the slats out of the porch and spaced them further apart. The slats had a meaning to them placed close together, they formed a shape of hearts all around the porch. (My husband built the porch.) To the new home owners credit they did build a lovely hot tub/exercise room off the back of the garage though. So I guess changes are good.

I watch that show and love it. I was in my old house. It looked really good. They had put french doors where the 50 year old sliders were. They left my kitchen exactly the same and that was my favorite room. They did take the carpet out of the front porch, they must wear shoes when they go for the mail. They did refinnish the hall and master bedroom hardwoods they looked great. They changed my officeiback nto a dining room. and moved the hot tub off of the back screen porch
