VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) – You can help send a little piece of home to south Georgia troops who are deployed overseas. For just five dollars a bag, you can send a member of any branch of military a bag of pecans.

The money pays for the shipping. You can write a message wishing the troops happy holidays or thanking them for their service. "When the soldiers leave their camps in Afghanistan and Iraq they're very limited on what they can take with them," said Paul Joseph of South Georgia Pecan Co. "Pecans are a good nutritious snack and they're very light. They can put it in their backpack and take them with them so they've got a good nutritious snack while they're out in the field."
South Georgia Pecan Company in Valdosta will ship the pecans at the end of this month and in mid December. You can order the pecans for soldiers, by calling 229-244-1321.
