Katpo and Kim both mentioned in another thread that salmon croquettes to them were comfort foods. Since I'm not a salmon eater, (can you say ick?) that wouldn't be on my list of comfort foods, but I do have some....
meatloaf
pot roast and gravy
creamy mashed potatoes
homemade chicken soup
I'm sure there's more, but my mind is blank...so anyhow what's on your list?

It has to be something that reminds me of my childhood and I have to be in the exact frame of mind to eat it, otherwise I wouldn't touch it. Such as Kraft macaroni and cheese. I'll eat it every five years or so but otherwise, it's gross. I don't do boxes anyway, but powdered cheese? No thanks.
Chocolate meringue pie is tops on my list. Reminds me of grandma.
Chicken and dumplings is next. Can't be globby dough-y dumplings either, they have to be rolled out and cut neatly into rectangles. Not squares, not plops of dough ... I said RECTANGLES.
Dirty rice, but please can we make it with hamburger meat and not ground liver? I remember begging every time. Sometimes they took pity on this poor liver-hater and sometimes I wasn't so successful.
Saltines and butter or peanut butter
Chocolate milk made with Hershey's Quik
Biscuits with honey
Last is white bread with homemade gravy. This was our "dessert" every night growing up. I swear my mom made gravy with every meal, even if we were having tacos -- probably because there was always a big cup of grease sitting by the stove at all times. After the meal was gone, we'd put the piece of bread in our plate, spoon gravy on it, and cut it neatly into 9 squares. The outside pieces were the best because of the crust.

All of these are what my grandma used to make. The list is long. She was an awesome cook and loved it too! All her veggies came out of the garden, except the sweet potatoes & acorn squash
candied yams
burgers (she put crackers, ketchup, egg in the meat and fried it)
banana pudding
creamed corn
stewed tomatoes
chocolate cherry upside down cake (real gooey and eat it hot)
brunswick stew (soooo good!)
fresh fried okra
her homemade bread
scuppernog pie
boiled yellow squash with vidalia onions
sweet potato pie
squash pie (made with acorn squash and tastes like sweet potato pie)
christmas cookies
chocolate cake (she made her own chocolate icing from Hershey's cocoa and always put whole pecans around the top in a nice little design)
forgot. ...
egg custard
her homemade chocolate pie with real meringe (sp?) on top
Chicken & dumplings (made with real homemade biscuit dough)

I grew up with Blackburn's syrup. We didn't know there was anything else. I recently saw it at the Dollar Tree and started to get some, then I read the nutrition label and WHOA BABY! Apparently we didn't care about that type of thing when we were growing up as skinny sticks, but now ... I don't think I can do it. Might as well eat a 4 lb. bag of sugar.
