My Mom is the school crossing guard at my boys' school. There was a little girl walking home last Thursday (the last day of school before the holidays) and my mom asked her what she asked Santa for. She said "My MeMe says Santa is not coming this year." It just broke my mom's heart. My mom told her "You never know - Santa might come." The little girl said "No - My MeMe don't lie. MeMe said Santa is not coming because we don't have any money to pay him. He didn't come last year either."
This was just bothering the hell out of my mom. It was just about all she talked about from Thursday evening until Sunday morning. So, Sunday (Christmas Eve) my mom, her friend & my sister went shopping and bought food, wrapping paper, tape & a bunch of toys for the little girl and her little sister.
Apparently, this little girl is in my son's 3rd grade class, but my mom doesn't know her name. So, nobody knew where she lived. My mom had an idea of what street she lives on and she decided to go from door to door until she found her. (Keep in mind that the street is 7 blocks long with each block having 45-50 houses) She went to the first door and knocked and a lady opened the door and the little girl was right there sitting on the couch! {Christmas Miracle???} The little girl was sitting there with her head on her hand and when she saw my mom, she ran to her and threw her arms around her and said "Mrs. Chris? Am I going to have a Christmas after all?" :cryhard:
My mom gave the lady all the food and toys and the wrapping paper and tape so that she can figure out what to give each child and wrap them herself.
Christmas day, we were all sitting around my table and my mom said to my sister "I would have LOVED to see that little girl's face this morning."
We STILL don't know her name. LOL!
