Ben just got back from his 2 week trip to Hawaii. I think he lost some pictures though. I sent two 512 MB SD cards with him. He told me he hit "erase all" on one of them. So he took it out and used the other one after that. I think he may have taken a few pictures on it after that though. I figured that out by looking at the dates on them. He left on July 11. The new disk starts on July 14, and there are a few from July 14 on the old one. So it looks like he is missing 3 days of pictures. He guesses he had about 100 on there. He is sleeping now, but I need to ask him if there should be more on there. Any ideas of how to get the lost pictures back?

Trish, I know that they have data retrieval software specifically for that purpose. I also know that you can call a professional, because I know someone who was able to do that after accidently erasing a whole memory card.
Anyhow, good luck! Hope Ben had a wonderful time too!

I called a computer guy in town. He told me to search Google for file restoration. Thanks for the site you gave me, I will check that out. Someone else told me since he took 60 more after that on the same card, there might not be a chance. Ben told me,"no big deal, they were only flowers." I have to get a USB connection from school tomorrow and will try it out.

I got the pictures back!!!! I called Canon and some guy walked me through it with a free online program. It took 10 min. Ben thinks we have most of them. There were 198 on the disk. There were good ones too of Hula dancers and a Luau. The guy was so helpful, he told me I happened to have the right guy answer the phone. He is an expert in recovery and is going to start his own business doing it. Mine would have cost about $75. Well, now I know how to do it for free. He told me he probably shouldn't have helped me so much, since it really wasn't a Canon problem. I thanked him about a zillion times. YIPPEE!!!!

Here is the site, it is not just for Canon' s though. Their service is free for any memory card retrieval. I had an SD card. You can also find lost files in your computer, I think that service might cost though. Like if you accidentally emptied something out of your recycle bin or deleted an email you could get it back.

I did tech support for a few years. It all depends on who picks up the phone. I sat across from a guy that was the NICEST guy ever. You'd love him...unless you were calling for tech support. I'd sit there on the phone helping someone feeling sorry for the person that got him. He had a GREAT personalilty. Could convince you he knew what he was talking about...but knew NOTHING!!!! But sounded so confident knowing nothing...you believed him that it was YOUR system. And he couldn't do anything to help you. If you don't like the answer you get...call back...chances are you'll get somebody else. You were just lucky enough to have the right person answer.
